Ara-290 reconstitution calculator

Vial size, bacteriostatic water and dose in — the syringe reading comes out. Defaults are the Ara-290 numbers from the Dosify Me app; change anything.

Quick answer: A 10 mg vial of Ara-290 mixed with 1 mL of bacteriostatic water comes to 10 mg/mL, so a 2 mg dose is 20 units (0.2 mL) on an insulin syringe.

What it does

Notes

All vial sizes reconstitute to 10mg/mL (100mcg/unit) so the syringe reads the same regardless of size. Listed second tier: 2-4mg every other day, which is less common than daily use.

Worked example for Ara-290

  1. The example vial: 10 mg of Ara-290, mixed with 1.00 mL of bacteriostatic water.
  2. Concentration: 10 mg ÷ 1.00 mL = 10 mg/mL.
  3. One syringe unit is 0.01 mL, so it holds 10 mg/mL × 0.01 mL = 0.1 mg (100 mcg).
  4. Example quantity: 2000 mcg = 2 mg.
  5. Volume: 2 mg ÷ 10 mg/mL = 0.2 mL.
  6. Syringe reading: 0.2 mL × 100 = 20 units.

Frequently asked

How many units is 1 mg of Ara-290?

At 10 mg/mL (the concentration every vial size mixes to), 1 mg of Ara-290 is 10.0 units on a 100-unit insulin syringe (0.100 mL).

How many units is 2 mg of Ara-290?

At 10 mg/mL (the concentration every vial size mixes to), 2 mg of Ara-290 is 20.0 units on a 100-unit insulin syringe (0.200 mL).

How many units is 4 mg of Ara-290?

At 10 mg/mL (the concentration every vial size mixes to), 4 mg of Ara-290 is 40.0 units on a 100-unit insulin syringe (0.400 mL).

How much bacteriostatic water do I add to a 10 mg vial of Ara-290?

1.00 mL, which gives 10 mg/mL. Other vial sizes use proportionally more or less water so the syringe reads the same.

How often is Ara-290 taken?

Daily or every other day. Morning Typical cycle: ~4 weeks on, ~2 weeks off; repeat 2–3×/year.
